Trade Copiers is honoured to receive the Queens Award for Enterprise (International Trade) 2020. Founded by Stephen Armistead in 2002, the company is based in Penrith, Cumbria, on the edge of the beautiful Lake District.

As well as being one of Europe’s leading brokers of used photocopiers, printers and other multifunction devices, Trade Copiers also has a thriving consumable department that purchases and exports consumables worldwide. China, Hong Kong, USA, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, Egypt, Spain, Italy, Germany, Holland, Pakistan and Ireland are just some of the countries the company deals with.

Starting with a single van and 100 square-feet of rented warehouse space in 2002, the firm has grown and expanded successfully to achieve an annual turnover of £8 million. Moving to new premises in 2014, it has now completed a full refurbishment of its offices and doubled the space within the engineering department. Two extensions built in 2018 provided a significant increase in overall warehouse capacity, enabling many more machines to be collected, stored and processed. An additional warehouse obtained in 2019 doubled capacity to distribute supplies worldwide so, all in all, the company now boasts in excess of 6,000 square-metres of warehousing and distribution space.

A new management team has been created to secure the continuous growth and development of the business. The new team includes an Operations Manager, New Sales Manager, a Compliance & Business Change Manager and a Head of Finance. Employee numbers have also increased, with 44 full-time employees now required to keep pace with rapid expansion. Elsewhere, a modern fleet of Euro 6 vehicles has been upgraded to include six HGV lorries and three commercial vans.

Trade Copiers feels immensely proud to be part of a local Cumbrian team and is delighted to be recognised as one of the region’s top export companies.
