Winners Of

  • 2020 International Trade

Celebrating its fifth birthday this year, Enerquip is proud to have been awarded a coveted Queen’s Award for Enterprise for outstanding achievement in the field of International Trade.

The company is a market-leading specialist in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of torque machines and associated products, including bucking units and fully rotational makeup and breakout torque machines which can be adapted to suit any application. A highly-skilled team boasting more than a century of combined experience provides year-round, 24/7 support, with the focus being on bespoke, customer-led solutions.

During the company’s comparatively short history, it has already operated across all four corners of the globe: from Alaska and New Zealand to the Falkland Islands and Sakhalin in Russia.

The Queen’s Award affords invaluable recognition of the organisation’s efforts and success within overseas markets, which accounted for roughly 95% of Enerquip’s £12m+ turnover in 2019. Indeed, in its first full year of trading in 2016, the company achieved a turnover of £2m, growing swiftly to £8m in 2018.

The business experienced its busiest ever quarter in 2019, with international deals worth £4m secured in the third quarter of a year which also saw the creation of Enerquip’s landmark 50th torque machine.

International hubs in Houston and Abu Dhabi work in parallel with the company’s global headquarters in Aberdeen and additional premises in Caithness. The demand for products and services brought about the need to expand into additional premises in Aberdeen where rented workshop and yard space extends to 8,000 sq/ft., and is located within easy reach of existing operations within the city.

Enerquip is committed to nurturing the next generation of talent for the benefit of the wider industry. Along with the recruitment of apprentices, the firm has invested time in a variety of initiatives, such as a long-term link with an Aberdeenshire secondary school to help deliver a project designed to support young people in making the transition from the classroom to the workplace, training or further education.

Speaking of the Queen’s Award, Enerquip Director Andrew Robins said: “This prestigious award gives important recognition for all that we have achieved in just five years, and we are honoured to be acknowledged with an award which is held in such high esteem. He continued: “Whilst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has dramatically changed the shape of our business landscape, Enerquip was established during a downturn and we are confident that those early experiences will stand us in good stead as we face the vagaries of the weeks and months ahead.”
