In the late noughties, as financial institutions started failing as a result of the credit crunch, the founders of Q5 agreed that there was a gap in the consulting market for a firm that had substantive expertise in organisation design and, maybe even more importantly, had a plain-speaking approach. This latter trait would, and continues to, permeate not only into the culture of the firm but also the work they produce and their relationships with clients.
Ten years on, with offices in London, Leeds, New York, Hong Kong, Sydney and Melbourne, Q5 continues to grow at pace, having doubled its employees in the last two years. Q5’s core work focuses on organisation design and change management, disciplines that are often overlooked by many of the more established consulting firms. Their enterprise and ability to adapt sees them take on work from corporate strategy to leadership development, with clients ranging from FTSE 100 companies to industry disruptor start-ups, and across all sectors from infrastructure to media.
“Where we differentiate ourselves is in our innovative and engaging approach to clients’ problems”, says co-founder Sharon Rice-Oxley. “Just like our approach to recruitment, our approach to client work is not cookie-cutter and we want to really understand our clients’ businesses so we can adapt our approach to their needs.”
Olly Purnell, Managing Partner, said, “Winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise is a huge honour and, to me, reflects the unique approach we bring to consulting. The award is testament to the great team at Q5 who continue to build important and enduring relationships with, and add value to, our clients around the world.”
