Burland have been working in the rather unglamorous world of small power distribution for many years. They have provided the final link in the power chain for offices, trading floors, data centres, electrical retail outlets and hospitals. Unsurpassed knowledge of their market, and necessity being the mother of invention, Burland have consistently bought many firsts to the market, reflected by a long list of UK and International Patents.
Their export markets have grown steadily as a result of firstly having best in class products, and secondly an ambitious outreach to new and developing markets in order to grow revenues, and diversify market dependence. Our largest export markets are China and the USA with significant and growing sales to the Middle East, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ireland, Sweden and Bhutan where we were closely involved in building the Nation’s first data centre in Thimpu.
Significant investment in tooling up products for different markets is allowing the export growth to continue. Recent year’s export revenues represent 54% of turnover. Whilst they do not expect that proportion to alter significantly in the coming years, the actual sales growth targets of 20% are on plan. Their Patented locking C13/C19 power outlets continue to be used in the data centres controlling the Internet globally, trading floors use our Patented energy saving devices and businesses are assured of sound, reliable connectivity reducing down time and data loss. The majority of Burland’s products are UK manufactured and they have partners assembling product in India for the local market.
