"I know these are challenging times for any business. But when I look at what this year’s winners have achieved, when I see the evidence of your dedication and ingenuity, when I hear the accounts of how you have taken aspirations far greater than your resources and – through sheer determination and hard work – turned them into something that helps make this world a better place…"

10 Downing Street

Once again this year thousands of businesses from every corner of our country and our economy started out on the path that leads these highly coveted awards.

Only the very best – including yours – made it to the end and can now proudly spend five years telling the world that they boast the rare distinction of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

The 2020 winners are a particularly eclectic bunch. Coming in the full range of shapes and sizes, the vast majority employ fewer than 250 people and 30 of them get by with fewer than 10.

And, as you will see from this magazine, they are beavering away in almost every sector imaginable –  from speeding up the manufacture of vast passenger jets to putting fun, colourful, sustainable clothes on the backs and bottoms of the nation’s babies and toddlers. It speaks volumes about the strength and depth of modern British enterprise.

I know these are challenging times for any business. But when I look at what this year’s winners have achieved, when I see the evidence of your dedication and ingenuity, when I hear the accounts of how you have taken aspirations far greater than your resources and – through sheer determination and hard work – turned them into something that helps make this world a better place…

When I do all that it tells me loud and clear that we as a country can face the future with every confidence in our entrepreneurs and in our economy.

You are all exceptional and inspirational, and richly deserve this recognition.

Officially approved by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and issued by his office.
