Roke Manor Research Ltd is the principal electronics research and development centre of Chemring
Group Plc, employing 450 staff in the UK. Founded in 1956, Roke pioneers developments in electronic sensors, networks, and communications technology and has over 430 patents to its name.
Roke has won the Queen's Award for Innovation for RESOLVE, its modular manpack electronic warfare (EW) system for the exploitation and suppression of hostile communication equipment.
RESOLVE is a 100% UK developed electronic warfare (EW) system. A modular, scalable and integrated system for the intercept, geolocation and exploitation of tactical communications signals the RESOLVE system can satisfy a range of mission profiles, exploiting a wide band of communications including Personal Mobile Radio (PMR) and cellular communications. Rapid end-user re-configuration means that RESOLVE can be tailored dynamically to meet specific operational requirements, allowing the same equipment to be quickly re-deployed as the situation evolves.
A RESOLVE system consists of one or more intercept and direction-finding nodes that can be operated in single user 'on-the-march', platform mounted 'on-the-move', or 'semi-static' configurations. Each RESOLVE node provides a full monitoring and direction finding capability which, when networked together, allows for the geolocation of targets. RESOLVE also has a flexible power solution with the ability to harvest energy using solar panels.
RESOLVE is now in service with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and is doing well in the global export market. RESOLVE provides users with rapid target identification and geolocation through the use of a dedicated Management Information System (MIS) and Geospatial Information System (GIS). The system can be configured to meet specific operational requirements as part of the MoD's ongoing commitment to enhancing ISTAR support for UK Forces.
